Clipper Project

In order to be able to participate in your online course, there are a few things that you must do before you can begin:

  • You will need to have access to the Internet
  • Read completely through this page before proceeding
  • Allocate plenty of time to complete these tasks
  • Call the Lehigh Help Desk (610.758.4357) if you have any questions or problems

Lehigh Computer and E-mail accounts - Lehigh University provides an e-mail address for every student, staff and faculty member. This address is used for all university-related e-mail, so you must open and activate your Lehigh computer account in order to begin using Lehigh e-mail and to be able to access your account on various Lehigh computers. Your Lehigh e-mail address will stay the same until you graduate, so plan on using it for the next few years!

1. Open Your Lehigh Computer Account - You will need to enter your Social Security number and birth date in order to identify yourself, so have these items handy.

  • Go to the following web site to begin the process: http://www.lehigh.edu/open
  • Read and accept the policy statement.
  • On the 2nd Account Password Management page, submit your Social Security number and your birth date. Follow the instructions on the next pages and make note of your 4-digit Lehigh ID. You will use this ID and the password that you created to access all of the computer systems at Lehigh, as well as your e-mail account.

2. Access your e-mail account - You have two options for handling your Lehigh e-mail, forward it to another account, or read it from the Lehigh server.

  • Forward your Lehigh e-mail - If you already have an email account that you use on a daily basis, you may want to simply forward your Lehigh e-mail to this account so that you can read these messages using your existing email program.
    • Go to: http://www.lehigh.edu/account
    • Enter your 4-digit Lehigh User ID and password
    • Under Electronic Mail Functions, choose Mail Forwarding
    • Follow the onscreen instructions to forward your mail. Be careful when you enter the forwarding address, because if you enter it incorrectly, all of your Lehigh e-mail will be forwarded to an incorrect address and will be lost to you.
    • After you are finished, test that you entered the forwarding address correctly by sending an e-mail message to your Lehigh address. It should be delivered to the forwarding address that you specified.
  • Access your Lehigh e-mail directly, using a web-based e-mail program:

3. Order Your Book(s) - Do not order from the link on the Lehigh Homepage:
