Matlab 6.1 (release 12.1) installation instructions

Before you begin the install:

  1. Refer to the Installation Guide for PC booklet for complete details about the installation process.
  2. Review the system requirements (hardware and software) in the booklet. This software was written to run under Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, and NT 4.0. Note that it was released prior to the release of Windows XP, so there may be some compatibility issues, however, we have had no problems running it under XP Professional. For the latest information about XP and Matlab, please go to the MathWorks site at:
  3. http://www.mathworks.com/support/solutions/data/30479.shtml

  4. Have the Personal License Password available. This should have been sent to you in an email message so that you can highlight and copy it to the Windows clipboard, then paste it during the installation process. Alternately, you can print out the email message and manually enter the digits.
  5. Exit any running programs, especially your virus protection program.
  6. Have administrator privileges if you will be installing on an NT, 2000, or XP system

Installation Notes:

  1. Refer to the printed instructions beginning on page 1-8 in the installation guide.
  2. Review the software license, fill in the required information, and note the default installation directories and space requirements. We recommend that you install both the software and the documentation, however, if you do not have enough disk space, you can choose to only install the software and view the documentation directly from the CD when you need it.
  3. If prompted, agree to the question regarding default file extensions

After the software is installed, refer to Unit 8 for information about using the software.
