This research is an investigation and characterization of both microwire self-assembly using gold nanoparticles in a gelatin solution as well as a method for wire removal, creating a three dimensional network of channels for fluid flow.
Corey Luthringer is a senior at Lehigh University majoring in Chemical Engineering and a member of the Rossin Junior Fellows. During the summer of 2007, she lived and worked in Luebeck, Germany doing research to automate the movement of medical probes during surgery. Corey is an active member of the Global Citizenship Program and worked this past year on a project with the Offices of the Provost International Affairs. The goal of this project was to create and implement a pilot program in Peru to study the feasibility of international internships related to service and community development work. The hope is for this program to be implemented in the future as a study abroad option for Lehigh students. Outside of class, Corey is a member of the women's rugby club and the outing club. She will be joining the pharmaceutical industry working for Schering-Plough this summer after participating in the Global Village at Lehigh.
