Bhangra

LU Bhangra team is a talented pool of men and women who have a love for tradition. The energy and spirit of Punjab is articulated through every graceful movement. LU Bhangra dancers are perpetual students of bhangra who dance to respect colorful Punjab. While preserving tradition, LU Bhangra serves to innovate and integrate bhangra into the contemporary culture of Lehigh University. LU Bhangra is open to every student at Lehigh.

Dance Team

The Lehigh Dance Team is compiled of talented dancers that strive to provide quality entertainment at a vast number of student and athletic events as well as dance competitions. While their backgrounds and training differ, all members have an extreme passion for dance and devote much of their time to the team. Performances include the freshman pep rally, Parent's Weekend football game, Le-Laf-a-Palooza/Bonfire, home men and women's basketball games, Fashion-4-A-Cure, Relay for Life, International Bazaar, Spectacular Spectacular, and many other events. The team is headed by its captain and co-captains. This dance family currently has 14 full-time members and 3 alternates. Look for auditions within the first week of classes each fall semester!

Dancin'

The Dance Club at Lehigh, Dancin', holds weekly classes in jazz, tap, ballet,and hip hop. Different levels of dance classes (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) are held based on the demand of each. Teachers from outside studios, as well as students in the club, choreograph and teach dances that are performed in a recital at the end of the year. Echoes

Echoes is Lehigh's only female a cappella group, established in 2003 by two students. There is an overwhelming interest for this club, currently composed of 13 women. There have had between 300-400 students in attendance at their Bake Hall performances, as well as many more positive turn-outs at other concerts. The Echoes tour during Pacing Break each year, as well as to other colleges throughout the Northeast. This spring the Echoes will compete at the intercollegiate level, as well as hold multiple concerts around Lehigh.

The Hip Hop Club aims to provide a place for new and experienced hip hop dancers to practice. We offer classes and instructions on basic and advanced breakdancing, popping, locking, and other forms of hip hop dance.

Lehigh Leela is a competitive fusion team that combines traditional South Asian elements and songs with Western culture. The members share a love of dance and are from a variety of backgrounds. Every person, regardless of race and experience is allowed to be a part of Lehigh Leela.

This club wishes to promote awareness of STEP dancing and explore the evolution of the STEP culture. This club will participate in performances at Lehigh and other universities, thereby representing Lehigh University. Mustard & Cheese Drama Society

The Mustard and Cheese Drama Society, founded in 1884, serves to not only uphold the traditions and principles on which it was founded [to serve, support, and promote theatrical activity at Lehigh University], but also to create, support, and encourage projects in the theatre arts. Our goals include reaching out to the student body as well as members of the surrounding community, bringing theatre into their lives and sparking their interest and participation in theatre at Lehigh University.

Philharmonic Orchestra

The Lehigh Philharmonic Orchestra is a body of 60-70 players from diverse backgrounds. Though primarily a student orchestra, faculty and community members also participate, creating an ensemble that contains unique intersections between students of all majors and professionals, campus and community. Students have a chance to perform the great works of orchestra repertoire in four concerts a year in Baker Hall, Zoellner Arts Center. Membership is by audition.

Swing

The Swing Dance club is a group of students who love to dance! We hold weekly lessons, which are taught by students. Lessons focus on East Coast Swing, Lindy, and Balboa. We also hold several dances throughout the year as well as perform at various events on campus. This club is open to anyone-no experience necessary.

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble at Lehigh University is a select group of about 50 students dedicated to the performance of music specifically written for woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The heart of our repertoire is the music of Twentieth century American composers, but our complete repertoire includes wind music from the Sixteenth century to the present, and from the various countries around the world.
