The
S.T.A.R. Alumni Association was established to provide meaningful
and life-long relationships with the three fundamental and
integral aspects of S.T.A.R. Academy in mind: the parents,
tutees, and tutors. By creating a communications and information
medium that all S.T.A.R. alumni can utilize, they will be
able to effectively remain a part of the S.T.A.R. Academy
family and have invaluable networking opportunities.
The Alumni Association will serve many purposes to STAR
Academy. These include:
Developing a continuous connection with the S.T.A.R. Academies
and creating an even greater cohesiveness between all S.T.A.R.
participants (quite simply: remaining a family, one of S.T.A.R.'s
most valuable assets). The current format of S.T.A.R. makes
it difficult to stay in touch and remain a part of S.T.A.R.
Through the establishment of an active Alumni Association,
the participants will have a medium to stay involved (whether
directly or indirectly) and the organization will be able
to keep them updated on their progress.
Many alumni from all three aspects of S.T.A.R. become members
of various private and public sector jobs. Some become lawyers
and doctors; others become teachers and chefs. By harvesting
all of these unique talents, we will not only be able to
have more effective hands on sessions and career day sessions
by alumni, but STAR alumni will also be able to recruit
current participants for jobs and internships in their respected
fields. The job and internship connections that STAR alumni
can provide are extremely invaluable.
