 Lehigh Chapter Active Members List

(find the current year in our archives and open the file members.csv)

This list includes the status of your email address as determined by the chapter secretary.  If there is a problem, please use the link below to National Membership Services to enter the correct information.  Also please notify the chapter secretary if you don't want your name listed here. This list is updated several times per year by the chapter secretary (downloaded from the national database, which is updated frequently).

National Membership Services

You will need your Sigma Xi ID number to use these services.  You can change your mail or email address or chapter affiliation, check the expiration date or renew your membership, or reactivate a lapsed membership.  If you have been an active member within the past three years you should "renew" (you are probably still receiving dues notices).  After five years you must "reactivate".  You can do either one at the Web link above.  Take a look at the Members Only  link, which includes many discounts and will soon offer an international online member directory.

Have you forgotten your Sigma Xi ID number?  Check your electronic or paper renewal notice.  Can't find it? Email your chapter secretary (see below), email memberinfo@sigmaxi.org or call 800-243-6534

Membership categories extracted from the Sigma Xi Constitution & Bylaws
Section 3. Requirements for Election or Promotion to Membership

Member (Full Member): Any individual who has shown noteworthy achievement as an original investigator in a field of pure or applied science is eligible for election or promotion to full membership in the Society by a chapter or the Committee on Qualifications and Membership.  [For Full Membership, the nomination form asks the nominee to list the most recent, first-authored, refereed publications (a minimum of two papers required, Ph.D. thesis is acceptable) or patents.]

Associate Member: Any individual who has, through initial research achievement in a field of pure or applied science, shown aptitude for research which is expected in due course to lead to the fulfillment of the requirements for full membership, is eligible for election to associate membership by a chapter or the Committee on Qualifications and Membership.

Definition of Terms (from the Sigma Xi Bylaws):  Noteworthy achievement in research specified for election or promotion to full membership…must be evidenced by publication, patents, written reports or a thesis or dissertation, which must be available to the Committee on Qualifications and Membership if requested. If the work is "classified," it shall be assessed for the Committee by a "cleared" Member. Membership in the Society is neither linked to the possession of any degree nor contingent upon belonging to some other organization.  Research aptitude specified for election to associate membership… must be evidenced by independent investigation ordinarily resulting in a written report, which must be available to the Committee on Qualifications and Membership if requested. If the work is "classified," it shall be assessed for the Committee by a "cleared" Member. Associate membership is offered to encourage young investigators with promise to continue careers in research. In making the nomination, both the nominator and the seconder attest to the nominee's potential for future promotion to Member.

Non-discrimination Policy: Neither Sigma Xi, nor any chapter of Sigma Xi, shall discriminate against candidates for election to membership on the basis of race, religion, sex, age, national origin, or disability.
