A Pathway to Service
October 22, 2011
As we come back from Thanksgiving break, take some time to remember those who are less fortunate. Some people in our
community do not always have the luxury of a warm meal three times a day. We all can do our part to help those around us,
whether it be your friend or someone you have never met.
As always, feel free to e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions, or
would like to get involved!

Upcoming Volunteer opportunities for you
Holiday Hope Chest
Would your group or organization like to provide gifts for South Bethlehem children in need this holiday season? We invite you to take part in the Holiday Hope Chest program. In coalition with the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley, we hope to fill over 150 gift boxes for children in our area. If your group would like to participate, please email email@example.com with how many boxes you will be able to create! We will then provide you with the first names, ages and genders of the children who will be receiving your Holiday Hope Chests. We ask groups to fill shoeboxes with new items appropriate for the age and gender of the recipient. Your contributions make a tremendous difference to South Bethlehem families in need. We look forward to hearing from you! Boxes are due this Friday
Feel Good Friday
Each Friday the Community Service Office takes a group of volunteers to an on or off campus site for a service event. Potential events include going to Abbe Hall to work with senior citizens or to Volunteers of America where volunteers spend their time with kids in the Lehigh Valley. Trips generally last from 3-5pm, and this month they will take place on 12/2 and 12/9. This is a great opportunity to volunteer and brighten someone elses day. To sign up now e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject: Feel Good Friday
We have a number of trips to Victory House Men’s Shelter this semester. Trips generally last from 5-7pm, and are a fun opportunity to exercise your creative culinary genius. The next trip will take place on 12/5. To sign up now e-mail email@example.com with the subject: Victory House, because these trips fill up fast!

Lambda Sigma Upsilon's Aids Awareness Week: Human Red Ribbon 12/1/11
Lambda Sigma Upsilon needs your help to build a Human Red Ribbon in the UC
Front Lawn for Nationals AIDS Awareness Day, which is the 1st of December
every year. For those that do not know, AIDS is one of the United Nations
Millennium Development Goals. It is something that goes unnoticed within
our community and the age group between 15 and 24 is at high risk, meaning
us students. The Red Ribbon in which everyone wears red and forms a
gigantic ribbon is meant to raise awareness across campus and possibly even
have the Bethlehem community get involved.

Donegan Elementary School Looking for Volunteers
Interested in getting involved with children, doing community service, and gaining teaching experience? Due to a complete loss of funding for after school
programming, Donegan Elementary School is looking for volunteers to run and assist with after school programs. Volunteers can be individuals, groups, clubs,
or organizations. Your task would be to plan and implement an after school program on a weekly basis. Programs can be based on volunteers' skills and interests.
We are seeking a wide array of programs to provide enrichment and life experiences for the elementary school students!
