In this workshop, attendees will outline their business plan using the Lehigh University SBDC's Business Planning Workbook. Bring a pen/pencil and expect to write! This workshop is designed to take your idea to paper for the first time, and to understand what lenders are looking for. Those who have already started a business plan can benefit from advice, tips, and a discussion of common mistakes.

Attendees will learn about:

  • What lenders are looking for in a business plan
  • What lenders are looking for in a business owner
  • The organization and structure of the business plan
  • Common mistakes – seen too often!
  • Where to obtain research and find additional resources

SBA and AARP to Present: National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day Event in Eastern Pennsylvania (10/2)

event flyerWASHINGTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP will team up Oct. 2 to present the first Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day event in eastern Pennsylvania, hosted by the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC’s). The event is part of a national outreach campaign designed to match entrepreneurs over the age of 50 with successful business owners and community leaders for advice and assistance.

The eastern Pennsylvania Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day event will be a panel discussion spotlighting: entrepreneurs discussing their experience starting a business; and SBA, SBDC and SCORE representatives discussing resources available to assist encore entrepreneurs to reach their business goals.

National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day is part of a larger effort by SBA and AARP to promote entrepreneurship among individuals ages 50 and older. With one in four individuals ages 44 to 70 interested in becoming entrepreneurs, and 63 percent of Americans planning to work during retirement, small business ownership is a good option.
