Online Seminar: The First Step

The Lehigh University SBDC offers information on how to start your business in two formats, an online course and a seminar presented by an instructor (Find Seminar Dates Here). Both formats cover the basic steps in starting a business which include:

1. Assessing yourself as a businessperson
2. Evaluating your business idea in the marketplace
3. Writing a Business Plan
4. Finding financing

Our Recommended Program

We would encourage you to first review the online course. You are also invited to attend the 2 hour live seminar presentation covering the steps to starting a business. Most seminars take place at the Rauch Business Center at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. The online course and the live seminar presentation offer a wealth of information on starting your business. For many of you, it may prove sufficient to get you started. The “Business Basics Seminar Series” is designed for pre-venture and new businesses. You do not have to attend all of the sessions but, put together, they provide a good legal/accounting-recordkeeping/marketing foundation for the entrepreneur. The seminars will be taught by three of the Lehigh Valley’s top business experts.

Lehigh University SBDC Aids PA Company to Bring Jobs Home

When the owners of Kempton, PA-based Tree Armor contacted the Lehigh University SBDC for assistance in marketing their coiled protective tree wrap to government agencies, they opened the door to a broad range of services to assist their small business.

The SBDC's Government Marketing Director David Dunn learned of Tree Armor's quality and production issues with their overseas manufacturer, leading to staff assistance in value-engineering their product and bringing the manufacturing back to the U.S.
