Step by Step Process

Step 1: Lottery Registration

  • Students must register to receive a lottery number.
  • Registration will be open from 9:00 AM, Monday, February 10, 2014, until 4:00 PM, Wednesday, February 12, 2014.
  • When you click on the “Register” button, your Lottery Registration will be submitted. The next screen will provide a confirmation stating that registration has been successful. Print a copy of the confirmation for your records. If you do not see the screen confirming your successful registration, you should re-enter the Campus Portal and repeat the process.

Step 2: Lottery Number Allocation

  • Lottery number allocation is randomly assigned to individual students through a computer program.
  • There is one set of numbers regardless of gender.
  • Selection numbers are not transferable. You may not sell or give your number to any other student.
  • Posting of Selection numbers will be on Thursday, February 13, 2014.

Step 3: Sign Housing and Meal Plan Contract and Pay $400 Housing Deposit/Payment Commitment

  • Between 12:00 PM, Thursday, February 13, 2014, and 6:00 AM, Tuesday, February 18, 2014, students must sign a Housing and Meal Plan Contract and pay the $400 Housing Deposit, or complete a Payment Commitment.
    • When you click on the “Submit” button, your Housing and Meal Plan Contract will be submitted. The next screen will provide a confirmation stating that contract submission has been successful. Print a copy of the confirmation for your records. If you do not see the screen confirming your successful Housing and Meal Plan Contract submission, please refresh the screen. If this does not resolve the problem, you should re-enter the Campus Portal and repeat the process.
    • After completing the Housing and Meal Plan Contract, you must finalize the process by paying $400 Housing Deposit or submitting a Housing Payment Commitment.
      • To pay the Housing Deposit:
        • Click on the link labeled “Click here for Housing Deposit Payment”
        • Read the information on the screen and then click the link “Click here to enter the Student Account Suite”.
          • A new window will open because the Student Account Suite is a secured payment site for Lehigh University which is outside of the Banner Self Service Housing Menu.
            • Log in using your Lehigh username and password.
            • Click on Deposits (centered at top of page).
            • Change Term to Fall 2014, click Select.
            • Change Deposit Payment to On-Campus Housing Deposit, click Select.
            • Select Make Deposit Payment
            • Choose the method of payment, click Go.
            • Fill out required information regarding your method of payment, click Submit.
            • Verify information, click Submit Payment.
            • You will receive a confirmation of the payment. Please print a copy of this confirmation for your records.
            • Close the window which will return you to the Banner Self Service Housing Menu.
            • Refresh the screen or go to the Housing Lottery Status page to confirm that your Housing Deposit has been confirmed in the lottery process.
      • To complete the Payment Commitment:
        • Click on the link “Click here for the Housing Payment Commitment”.
        • Select the reason for deferment.
          • If you do not qualify for the defer reasons stated on the Payment Commitment, you must pay a Housing Deposit.
        • Read the terms of the Payment Commitment. Print a copy of the terms for your records.
        •  Click “Submit”.
        • The next screen will provide a confirmation stating that Payment Commitment submission has been successful. Print a copy of the confirmation for your records. If you do not see the screen confirming your successful Payment Commitment submission, you should refresh the screen. If this does not resolve the problem, please re-enter the Campus Portal and repeat the process.
  • Failure to sign a Housing and Meal Plan Contract and pay a Housing Deposit or sign a Payment Commitment by the deadline will result in forfeiture of the opportunity to select Housing.

Step 4: Search for Available Housing

  • Pre-Housing Selection
    • The more time you spend searching the apartments that will be available during selection, the less time you will need when you are actually selecting.
      • You can search for housing by type, building, or status.
    • If you search for housing using the “All” search, you will be able to view all apartments.
    • Prepare a list of housing in the order that your group wishes to select them during your selection time.
    • Review all areas offered during selection so if your first choice is no longer available when your selection time is active you will be prepared to select from the remaining options.
  • During Housing Selection
    • Use this screen as often as possible prior to selecting your apartment to keep track of what’s still available. The more time you spend monitoring remaining apartments, the less time it will take your group to select an apartment.
      • Search for housing using the “Available” search. Only housing still remaining in the process will be viewable.
        • If you search for housing using the “All” search, you will be able to view all housing.
        • Those no longer available for selection will be noted as “Not Available”.
      • If your group takes more than the 5 minutes designated to select housing, it could result in the person(s) with selection times later than you entering the selection process and selecting housing before you.

Step 5: Updated Lottery Number List

  • Students who do not sign a Housing and Meal Plan Contract and pay a Housing Deposit or complete a Payment Commitment by 6:00 AM, Wednesday, February 19, 2014, will be removed from the process.
  • The Lottery Numbers of students remaining in the process will not change but the new list is adjusted to omit those who did not contract and deposit.
  • The updated Lottery Number list will be posted on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.

Step 6: Selection Date, Time, and Housing PIN

  • Each student receives a selection date, time and Housing PIN number.
  • This information will be posted on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.

Step 7: Selecting your Housing

  • On-line Housing Selection will take place Thursday, February 20, 2014 through Friday, February 28, 2014. Selection sessions will be assigned between 3:00 PM and 11:00 PM in 5 minute intervals.
  • Please refer back to Step 4: Search for Available Housing-During Housing Selection
  • Each group will select during the earliest designated selection time for the people within the group.
    • Housing must be filled to capacity.
    • All group members must be present during the session to submit their LIN & Housing PIN.
      • If the group member whose LIN and Housing PIN will be used to select housing cannot be available to log on during the designated time, s/he must submit a Proxy before the designated selection time.
        • You must proxy with someone that you are planning to live with.
        •  The person with the best selection date and time must fill out the proxy information (Campus Portal; Campus Life Tab; 2014-2015 Housing Selection Processes; Rising 3rd, 4th, & 5th Year Students; Banner Self Service Housing Menu; Submit Housing Proxy)
        • Enter the LIN and Housing PIN of the student in the group who will act as the proxy.
        • You will receive a confirmation of the proxy once it is complete. The proxy will then be authorized to enter his/her LIN and Housing PIN at the earliest selection date and time.
        • You will still need the LIN and Housing PIN of all roommates when your group selects housing.
      • If other group members cannot be present and they choose to provide their LIN & Housing PIN to someone in the group to act as their proxy, they do so of their own volition.
  • You will only be able to access the Select Housing screen on or after your Housing Selection date/time. You may re-enter the screen as often as you wish until you have successfully selected housing.
    • If you miss your group’s initial selection time, the group can log on at any point during the selection process and select housing, as long as the type of housing your group prefers is still available.
      • If the type of housing your group prefers is no longer available, the group will have to break down to fit into housing which is still available.
    • Selection will close at 10:00 PM on Friday, February 28, 2014.
  • Once you have chosen housing you will be prompted to enter the LIN and Housing PIN of all students agreeing to live in the space. If you enter incorrect LIN and/or Housing PIN, you will receive an error message. In order to select housing, you will need to correct the invalid information and re-submit the selection.
    • You will receive confirmation of the group’s selection. Please print a copy of this confirmation for your records.
    • Once a Housing PIN is used it will no longer be active to select an apartment.
      • This is true for the Housing PINs of the entire group, even if your Housing PIN was not the primary Housing PIN used in the selection process.
  • Help Line
    • If you have problems with the on-line process during your selection, please call the Help Line at 484-357-8041. The Help Line is open from 4:45 PM until 11:15 PM. Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:15 AM and 4:45 PM, you should contact Residential Services at 610-758-3500.
  • After all available housing is selected the selection process will automatically close.
    • All students with unused Housing PINs who do not, or are unable to, select a space during the selection process, will be contacted in regards to remaining on a Housing Placement List.
      • Students who decline the option to remain on the Housing Placement List will forfeit $50 of the Housing Deposit and their Housing and Meal Plan Contract will be void.
      • Students who remain on the Housing Placement List will be placed in lottery number order to receive an assignment.
        • If a student refuses placement when offered, s/he will forfeit $50 of the Housing Deposit and their Housing and Meal Plan Contract will be void.

Step 8: Selecting your Bedroom

  • Shortly after the lottery process closes, groups will receive an e-mail with more information in regards to bedroom selection.
