Students Coming Home For Break

For many first-year students, this will be the first time that he or she will be home for an extended period of time. Now is a good time to help your student reflect on their experience, set expectations for when he or she is home, and of course a time to relax! For some more detailed advice, hear from the OFYE’s Director Allison Ragon!

First Year Experience

Winter Prelusion - Discover Lehigh: Available for January-admitted students, transfer students, and current first-year students alike, the OFYE will be running Discover Lehigh, a Prelusion program, before the start of the Spring semester. This is a great opportunity for new students to get to know Lehigh and the surrounding areas before starting classes or for a current student to meet new people and explore more deeply the resources offered here. Discover Lehigh will begin on Thursday, January 9th in the evening and will run until the evening of Saturday, January 11th. The cost is $160.  Registration is open until December 21st and your student can register here. If you have questions or would like more information please contact Mike Fouchet in the OFYE at lehighofyegrad@gmail.com.

Orientation Leader and Camp Hawk Counselor Applications: Is your student interested in getting involved? Wanting to give back and serve as a role model to future first-year students? Then encourage him or her to apply for one of these positions! Applications are now live on The Hub and will be due at the beginning of the spring semester. Please check out the OFYE website for more information.

Residential Services information

Break Housing: Buildings will close for Semester and Spring Breaks. For more information about break housing, click here.

Housing Contract: As a reminder, the Residence Hall Housing and Meal Plan Contract that you signed is a binding agreement to reside in and be financially responsible for university housing charges for the full academic year (Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 Semesters). We realize that during the course of the fall semester students make decisions regarding not attending the university that affect this agreement for the Spring Semester such as deciding to transfer or withdraw, take a leave of absence, participate in a University study abroad or internship/co-op program or graduate. We ask that if you have made the decision not to attend Lehigh University for the Spring 2014 Semester for any reason, that you inform us of your decision and to provide the reason you will not be returning.

Residence Life Information

Live Lehigh: Lehigh's Live Lehigh communities are student-initiated themed housing options for upper class students (for example, current options include a Green House (sustainable living), Music Appreciation, and Outdoor Adventure just to name a few). The complete list of current communities can be found here. If you are interested in starting your own Live Lehigh community, the application is available now on the Residence Life website. If you are interested in signing up for an already existing community, sign-ups begin November 11th through the Residence Life website.
