House Council

Each building has a House Council with the following positions: President, Vice President, Programming Coordinator, Treasurer, Secretary and Hall Representatives, all responsible for providing a great living experience for residents through quality programming. Each house council will have an advisor and an RHA liaison to provide guidance and support as necessary.

After House Council elections, a mandatory training session will be held for the new members. Each Council will then hold weekly/bi-weekly meetings at which they will use their sizable budget to plan fun, creative and original programs for their building. Programs run in the recent years have included Massage Nights, Midnight Breakfasts, Red Bull and Pizza Study Breaks, Pie Eating Contests and the annual Rock the Quad event, which is co-sponsored by several House Councils. House Council Presidents will also attend monthly CHOPs (Council of House Presidents) meetings. The purpose of CHOPs is to keep the RHA Executive Board and all House Councils informed about what each building has been doing, but also so the Executive Board can provide guidance and relay important big-picture RHA items to the House Councils. House Councils will receive points for each event they do and the House Councils with the most points at the end of the semester will receive more money in their budget.

Get Involved Now

Becoming a member of your residence hall's House Council is not only easy, but also the perfect way to meet people in your building and become involved at Lehigh. RHA's unprecedented networking opportunities enable you to work not only with members from other residence halls, but also with gryphons, members of Lehigh offices and other student organizations.

Each Buidling has a House Council with the positions: President, Vice President, Programming Coordinator, Treasurer, Secretary and Hall Representatives. Those interested in running for any of these positions should inform their Gryphon within the first three weeks of the fall semester that they’d like to be put on the ballot. Each residence hall’s House Council will then be elected by the residents of the building, with the exception of hall representatives which will be elected by their respective hallways.
