Funding Opportunities for Students

THE LAWRENCE HENRY GIPSON INSTITUTE FOR EIGHTEENTH CENTURY STUDIES DISSERTATION FELLOWSHIP

The Council of the Gipson Institute invites PhD students enrolled at Lehigh University who are working on dissertations in eighteenth century studies to apply for a one-year fellowship to support dissertation research and writing. The recipient will receive a stipend of $16,000. Preference will be given to candidates who expect to complete his or her dissertation during the fellowship year. The dissertation may be in any field of eighteenth century studies, but should focus substantially on that time period.

WILLIAMS PRIZES IN ENGLISH, THEATRE, & JOURNALISM

Prizes ranging from $200 to $1000 will be offered this year to students in all classes (Freshman to Senior) in the following areas:

  • English (Essays and Creative Work)
  • Theatre (Design, Production, & Performance)
  • Journalism (Journalism, Communication, Science & Environmental Writing)

WlLLIAMS SENIOR WRITING

Prizes ranging from $200 to $1,000 will be awarded to Seniors in all three colleges for essays in the following areas:

  • Art & Architecture
  • Business & Economics
  • History, Political Science, & International Relations
  • Music (Composition, Text-Based Performance, or Music History)
  • Philosophy & Religion
  • Psychology, Sociology, & Anthropology

BIOSYSTEMS DYNAMICS SUMMER INSTITUTE

Undergraduate summer research opportunities under this initiative include participation in an interdisciplinary research team sponsored by the Biosystems Dynamics Summer Institute. Research teams will be composed of faculty from different disciplines, graduate students and post-doctoral associates, and undergraduate students who will work together on a common research project. Interdisciplinary team projects may include research in genomics, bioinformatics, gene expression, behavioral neuroscience, and reproductive biology.
