CAST Seminar on Simultaneous Design
Presented by
Dr. William L. Luyben, Lehigh
University
DATE: Thursday,
October 17, 2002
TIME: 1:00-2:30 ET Noon to 1:30 PM Central
11:00-12:30 MT 10:00- 11:30 PT
What is Simultaneous Design?
- "Simultaneous
Design" is a design procedure that considers both the steady-state
economics and the dynamic controllability of a process at an early
stage in the development and ommercialization of a chemical plant.
Why Simultaneous
Design?
- The application
of simultaneous design to a process can provide improved process control
giving enhanced process yields and energy utilization. This superior
dynamic control can also reduce the potential for process upsets resulting
in diminished plant emissions and overall better environmental efficiencies.
