Sitaraman Krishnan '03 Ph. D. earns tenure, promotion at Clarkson


Sitaraman Krishnan ’03 Ph.D. has recently been promoted to associate professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at Clarkson University.

At Clarkson, Krishnan has been a principal investigator of research projects for companies such as GE, New World Pharmaceuticals, and Energy Materials Corporation, and of projects for federal and state agencies, such as the Army Research Office and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. He has mentored 12 graduate students, as well as several undergraduate students at Clarkson.  Krishnan is also the faculty advisor for the Delta Chapter of the Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honors Society.

Krishnan’s research focuses on nanostructured and stimulus-responsive polymer-based materials. Krishnan has authored or co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, nine patent applications, and more than 40 oral or poster presentations at national conferences.

Krishnan is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Chemical Society, the Society of Plastics Engineers, the American Society for Engineering Education, and the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society. And he has served as a reviewer for approximately 20 professional journals
