Continuing students who request fellowships, scholarships, RA's, TA's, and GA's which will begin in the fall semester must file a request with their academic department no later than February 1. New students who request financial aid should so indicate on the "Application for Financial Aid" to be submitted with the regular application for graduate study.
Further information may be found in the Graduate Student Handbook.
Applications for financial aid to begin in the fall term must be filed no later than January 15.
Financial assistance for Graduate Students is available in several forms:
An applicant may enter the graduate program as a regular or an associate graduate student. Only regular graduate students are candidates for graduate degrees. Students who do not wish to enter a degree program may be admitted as non-degree students; see this link for information on how to apply as a non-degree student. International students must be admitted under regular status for immigration paperwork to be completed. Except for qualified Lehigh undergraduates, only those who have been officially admitted as regular, associate, or non-degree students may register for graduate courses.
In general, associate status is granted to those applicants who apply after the department's deadline for applications, who do not completely qualify for regular status because some element of the application is absent or incomplete, or who submit inadequate documentation of competencies in certain key areas. However, since each department's classification and requirements of associate students is different, you must check with the department to determine if you qualify to be admitted under associate status. Associate students must complete the first nine consecutive credit hours with at most one grade below B-. They will not be permitted to continue if they receive a grade below C. After nine credit hours of coursework, associate students must petition for regular status. Individual departments may require more rigorous probationary standard.
It is the policy of Lehigh University to provide equal opportunity on the basis of merit and without discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, age, national original citizenship status, handicap, or veteran status.
International applicants to the Graduate Programs of the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution or an equivalent foreign degree. Applicants must submit all documents listed above and below this section, including the application fee. If the online application is completed the fee must be paid with a credit card, if you are completing the PDF application you may pay the fee with a credit card or in the form of a check or money order from a U.S.-affiliated banking institution. All transcripts must be official copies validated by a school administrative officer. They must be in the original language with an official translation attached.
All international students must show proof of English proficiency to be admitted to Lehigh. The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required for all graduate students whose FIRST language is not English. The TOEFL requirement may be waived if a student has completed a degree program at a U.S. university.
