The Newman Council
The Newman Council is comprised of members of the Lehigh University Catholic Community who have made a commitment to further the presence of the Catholic Church on campus. The purpose of the Newman Council is to advise the Catholic Chaplain on the areas regarding Catholic life on campus, especially in planning and implementing Catholic religious, social, and intellectual functions. The Newman Council is also the steering committee for the Catholic Student Union, which provides activities, support and fellowship for Catholic student-members.
Election of Members
In order to run for the Newman Council, you must be an undergraduate, graduate student or faculty member of Lehigh University who is a practicing Catholic.

Vice President: Justin SirrineThe Vice-President acts as the official spokesperson for the Newman Council and/or the presider over the meetings in the event that the President is unavailable. Other duties include aiding in the planning of events, reporting progress of committees to the President, and aiding in any paperwork. |

Religious Life Coordinator: Darren PfeilThe Religious Life Coordinator is responsible to help in the recruiting of lectors, servers, ushers, singers, and musicians in cooperation with the Newman Center Administrative Assistant. Other duties include coordinating a religious retreat for all Council members, suggesting guest speakers and religious activities to enhance Catholic student-life. |
Vice President for Social Activies: Sabrina StartsThe Vice President for Social Activities decides upon and assists in the organization of all Catholic Student Union social activities and designates leadership for each. Along with encouraging use of the Newman Center, the Vice-President for Activities serves as a resource for suggestions, complaints, and concerns regarding Newman Center facilities and activities. |
