MANUFACTURING SCIENCE LABORATORY

The Manufacturing Science Laboratory at Lehigh University
Welcome to the web site of the Manufacturing Science Laboratory, located in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics at Lehigh University. The Lehigh University Manufacturing Science Laboratory is the home for research related to a number of manufacturing processes.  Polymer processing exists as one of the primary focus areas worked on in the Laboratory.  At present, affiliated faculty members and students are working to advance both basic science and applied technology related to processes such as injection molding (nano/micro to macro), thermoforming, blow molding, and extrusion.

Plastics Education and Research at Lehigh University
Lehigh University has had a formal Polymer Science and Engineering Program since 1975.  The objectives of the program include the development of new plastics technology and the preparation of first-rate scientists and engineers with proficiency in polymer related areas.  The program is a true cross-disciplinary collaboration between College of Arts and Science and the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. Students enrolled can elect to pursue both masters and doctoral degrees in the field of Polymer Science and Engineering.  As an active participant in the Lehigh Educational Satellite Network, the program also offers full masters degrees via distance education.  Over twenty faculty members and a wide range of distributed laboratories support the program.  Between 50 and 75 students participate in the program annually.
