The surface of this glassy particle is covered in iron globules. Spectroscopic analysis reveals that these globules also contain small amounts of nickel and sulfur. Such globules are thought to have formed from the condensation of vaporized meteorite material onto the surface of the particle. Another possibility is that iron globules can form when iron silicate is reduced by hydrogen implanted by the solar wind. |
