Media Center - Media Collection

Picture of Elaine

Lehigh's non-print collection is located primarily in the Media Center, room 370 on the lower level of the Fairchild-Martindale Library.  The collection consists largely of videocassettes and DVDs; there are also 16mm films and some audio tapes. The collection of international films formerly housed in the International Multimedia Resource Center (IMRC) has been merged with the Media Center collection.  The entire collection can be searched through ASA, Lehigh’s on-line catalog or, more quickly, from the Media Collections Search Page.

We purchase several hundred new titles each year.  Faculty and staff may use the Video Request Form to ask for additions to the media collection, or to reserve materials for classes or other events. Materials may be held on reserve (see below) for viewing in either the IMRC or the Media Center. For additional assistance, email Elaine Kovacs at elk0@lehigh.edu or contact her at 8x5021.

Circulation and Loan Policy

  • Faculty and staff may borrow tapes and DVD’s for up to 7 days with 1 renewal (renewals will be approved only if material is not needed for another user)
  • Graduate Students may borrow tapes and DVD’s for up to 7 days with no renewals.
  • Undergraduates may not borrow videos or DVD’s.  They can be viewed at the viewing stations in the Media Center.
  • All faculty, staff and students must have a valid Lehigh ID to use these materials.
  • Loans can be reserved or ‘booked’ in advance to assure availability of materials on the dates needed.
  • Requests for advance bookings or renewals are made with Elaine Kovacs (85021, elk0@lehigh.edu .
  • Our on-line circulation system (SIRSI) will send borrowers reminder notices of due dates as well as additional reminders if materials are overdue
  • Borrowers are responsible for the replacement cost for any lost material

Reserves

Faculty can place video tapes and DVD’s on reserve for by using the Video Request Form, or calling Elaine Kovacs (85021, elk0@lehigh.edu ).  Reserve length can be as long or short as the instructor wishes.  Materials on reserve do not circulate and must be viewed in the Media Center, either in the classrooms or the viewing stations.  Faculty may also place their own material on reserve for use within the Media Center.  Reserve material can also be held in the IMRC in Maginnes Hall upon request.
