The Digital Media Studio offers a wide range of support for video production. With a studio appointment Lehigh University students, faculty, and staff can film interviews, record audio narration, and utilize the green screen. Lehigh members can borrow portable equipment and record audio/video in the field. Afterwards they can use our editing tools to complete the work and output it to various formats such as DVD, Ensemble streaming, etc.
The studio supports both still photo and video production and includes shooting spaces with black, tan, and gray backgrounds as well as a green screen.
We have two professional editing systems that are used by our staff and 19 stations in the lab which can be used for editing with iMovie, Final Cut Express or the new Final Cut Pro. We also have a digitizing station for capturing material from DVDs and VHS. Each computer is connected to our dedicated media server for storage of project files. Portable hard drives are also available each semester for users in the classes we teach to store and edit their project files. Users are welcome to provide their own storage media for projects.
The Digital Media Studio offers video camcorders, tripods, and microphones to loan out free of charge to Lehigh students, staff, and faculty. Late fees will be charged if equipment is not returned on time. Our loan policy during the semester is all equipment is due back before 10pm the following day. Please remember to bring your Lehigh ID.
Instructional Media Services offers serveral options to support event recording: recording equipment (camera, microphones, and tripod) can be borrowed in support of do-it-yourself recording. There is no charge and our staff will show you how to use the equipment. If requested we may be able to provide a student worker to record your event. Thre may be a fee for this service. For some events we may be able to provide a staff member to record your event, and again, there may be a fee for this service. For some events we may refer you to outside service providers. We can also assist you with editing and preparing your recordings for streaming, downloading, or distibution on DVD.
Event recording equipment is circulated out of the Digital Media Studio, EWFM room 421 accessible via the east-west breezeway south of the main library entrance. Call 83057 for information or to reserve equipment.
The Digital Media Studio houses a (19) station Mac computer lab. The computers are loaded with both basic and advanced video editing software. Software highlights include: Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, Acrobat Pro, Audacity, and the latest iMovie.
