Africa Week 2008

Congratulations to Ahmed Salim along with the Association of International Students, Global Union and the Black Student Union on their extremely successful inaugural Africa Week. The focus of this week of events was to highlight the beauty, strength and progress of the African continent as opposed to the dominant media images of hunger, disease and war. John Prendergast, political activist and Co-chair of the ENOUGH project gave an informative lecture entitled "Why Africa Isn't Hopeless." Additionally, we were honored to receive a lecture on the history and future of Africa from Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim, the
African Union special envoy to Darfur and Former prime minister of Tanzania. Other events included a study abroad session, African drumming and a Ghanian & Tanzanian feast!
