Medication
Medication can be administered to your child by the Child Care staff providing it is prescribed by your physician and the following conditions are met:
Medication must be prescribed by a physician for the current illness.
The medication must be in its original container with the child’s name, dosage and date on the label.
The medication must be current, not 3 or 6 months old.
Written instructions along with the child’s name, the name of the medication, plus the dosage must be written in the medication log in the kitchen on a daily basis (as needed). Parent signature is required.
Over the counter medication will only be administered if the center receives a signed note from the physician with the follow information: child’s name, name of prescribed medication, explanation of condition requiring medication, date and dosage.
In situations where a child requires a nebulizer treatment, a prescription from the physician is required including the same information that is required for other prescriptions.
Staff member administering medication will sign the log book and record the time and dosage of medication.
All medications will be safely stored and stored according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
