Living Off Campus
If you are leaving your off-campus residence for university holidays, scheduled breaks or for an extended period of time, you may have concerns about the safety of your residence. The Lehigh University Police Department allows you to register your off-campus residence for the times that you are gone and will provide additional police patrols in your neighborhood. In addition, if you need assistance, please contact the Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley. Their 24-hour hotline is (610) 437-6611 or www.cvclv.org
Remember that criminal activity is prominent during semester breaks. Vacant apartments are targets. Always lock doors and windows. If your property is valuable and portable, take it with you. The use of light timers is recommended.
It is also recommended that you make arrangements regarding mail and newspaper deliveries so they do not accumulate outside your residence.
