Campus Crime Statistics for Lehigh University

It is important to note that the crime classifications for which colleges and universities must provide statistics differ under state and federal law. Statistics for certain crime classifications might appear to be different. For example, the federal statistics for motor vehicle theft differ from the state statistics for the same category because the federal classification includes attempted motor vehicle thefts, while state law requires institutions to separately report attempted motor vehicle thefts.

Campus Crime Statistics for Lehigh University
The Pennsylvania College and University Security and Information Act requires the release of crime statistics and rates to
students and employees, and it requires that those statistics be available to applicants and new employees upon request.
The rate is based on the actual number of Full Time Equivalent (FTE) students and employees, which is calculated accord-
ing to a state-mandated formula. The index in the table below is based on incidents per 1000 FTEs. The University's FTE
population for 2005 was 8757, for 2006 the FTE population was 7748, and for 2007 the FTE population was 7708.
