Mission Statement
The Office of Residence Life strives to enhance the educational mission of the University by creating opportunities with our students to explore relationships, share ideas, and challenge values within the residential community that will encourage the development of vital life skills.
We are committed to the actualization of this mission through:
Fostering student self-reliance and individuality.
Serving as student advocates.
Creating meaningful student leadership possibilities.
Facilitating opportunities for the development of relationships between faculty, staff, and students.
Encouraging the development of critical thinking skills.
Challenging each student to be a positive, contributing member of the community.
Fostering the acceptance of all people through the celebration of each individual's unique contributions.
Challenging students to promote appropriate behavior for themselves and others.
The department provides:
Live-in professional staff accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Student staff in residence (better known as Gryphons) who serve as peer leaders for residence hall students
Enforcement of community standards and University regulations
Programs and activities which support student learning
Information and connections to university resources
