The Weinstock Center

Jane and Louis Weinstock '36 recently awarded Lehigh University a $1.5 million gift to establish The Jane and Louis Weinstock Center for Journalism at Coppee Hall.

Changes in information and communication technology have revolutionized our time -- aptly titled the Information Age. The fields of journalism and communication are at the center of those changes. The Weinstock Center will be an important channel for interdisciplinary research and teaching on perhaps the central subjects of our times.

The Weinstock Center will offer funded research projects as well as seminars, workshops, symposia, certificate programs and other coursework for the continuing education and life-long learning of adults and professionals.

The Jane and Louis Weinstock Center for Journalism at Coppee Hall positions Lehigh University on the leading edge of inquiry into this historic transformation of social life.

Notable guests to the Weinstock Center have included:

  • Imad Musa, producer of Arab television network Al-Jazeera
  • Thomas Friedman, author and columnist, The New York Times
  • Todd Gitlin, professor and author
  • Philip Kent, chairman and CEO, Turner Broadcasting System
  • Mark Malseed, reporter and research assistant to Bob Woodward
  • Marty Baron, editor, The Boston Globe
  • David Sanger, international correspondent for The New York Times
