Fruit Bowl

1. Click on the Start Button and then go to Programs. Go to Adobe, Photoshop CS2 and click on Adobe Photoshop CS2. If it is not listed on the start menu, you will have to install the program using the install software icon on the desktop.

2. Save the three pictures listed below by right clicking on each one and then left clicking on Save Picture As. Save them in your network folder as .jpg files.

3. In Adobe Photoshop, click on File and then Open. Select your network folder where you saved the images of fruit. Select each of the three pictures and click on open. Note: Press Ctrl+Left click to select more than one file at a time.

4. You will now see a picture of a apple, grapes and a bowl. We will composite these images into another picture. To create a new workspace, click on File then New. Name the new workspace Fruit Bowl.psd. Set the width to 400 pixels and the height to 300 pixels.

5. Select the apple.jpg image. Use the magic wand selection tool (see screenshot) and select the entire apple. You want the outline of the apple to be selected in a blinking dotted line. Note: You will need to press shift+left click multiple times on different parts of the apple to accomplish this.

6. After the apple is selected, go to Edit, then Copy. Select your Fruit Bowl.psd image and then go to Edit, then Paste. This should paste a duplicate image of the apple into your blank workspace. If for some reason it does not. Go to Edit, then Undo or Step Backwards and try again.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the grapes and the bowl.

8. Notice each image you pasted into Fruit Bowl is a different layer. Each layer can be moved, or edited without effecting other layers. The layer on the top of the list is the layer placed on top of the image.

9. Use the Magic Wand tool and Move tool (A four sided arrow) to position the bowl, and fruit into whatever positions you wish. Use the eraser tool to remove any fruit sticking out of the bottom of the bowl

10. Go to Layer, then Flatten Image. This will allow you to save your file as a jpg file. You will then be able to go to File, Save As, select a jpeg or jpg image type, and make sure you are in your network folder, and click save. The next screen will ask for detail levels and other options. The default options are ok, so just press ok. The final image should look like this.
