Intuitive Design

  1. Industry standards say a website should not take more than 7 seconds to load. Here's one that takes a bit too long, never mind other problems.

  2. Web pages, like TV screens, flash at a level beneath perception. Therefore, they are not appropriate for extensive content. If a document is lengthy, it should be buried in an internal layer, so that it can be printed out.

  3. A Web Page should not be overly busy. (See.)

  4. It should not have more information than it needs to organize the next layer down. Here is a good example of "too much."

  5. Graphics should be tailored for web-readiness. If any element takes too long a time to load, something hasn't been done correctly.

  6. Web pages should be attractive and appealing.

  7. Design should be integral throughout.

  8. The fonts should be readable, both in size, shape and color contrast against the background. Light against dark is not readable.
