Dr. Tonkay's research interests are in the area of integration and control of manufacturing systems. He has developed control systems for both discrete parts systems and continuous systems. He is the director of the Electronics Manufacturing Laboratory. Further interests include manufacturing processes such as machining, abrasive water jet machining, and welding; data collection; and data processing. He teaches courses in industrial control systems, automation and production systems, and databases and networking. Dr. Tonkay has been with the faculty since 1986.
