Mike Gausling Originate Ventures Managing Partner

Mike Gausling is a co-founder and managing partner of Originate Ventures LLC, a venture capital investment firm which targets early stage and emerging growth product companies in eastern Pennsylvania. Prior to co-founding Originate Ventures in 2006, Gausling was a co-founder and former CEO of OraSure Technologies (NASDAQ: OSUR) which was named to the list of 50 fastest growing companies in the Greater Philadelphia region for seven consecutive years. Gausling has also held a variety of financial management positions at Proctor & Gamble. Gausling graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and received an MBA in Finance from Miami University of Ohio.

Robert Gustafson Centers for Enterprise Innovation, Leadership Fellow, Adjunct Professor

Gus Gustafson is the Leadership Fellow at the Centers for Enterprise Innovation and an Adjunct Professor at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. He teaches the "Leadership Development" course to undergrads and created the course "Executing the Business Plan", which he teaches in the MBA VENTURESeries entrepreneurial concentration. Gustafson also co-created the interdisciplinary Entrepreneurial Leadership Residency program and is the Industry Advisor to the National Society for Leadership and Success. He is program director for the Knowledge Management Institute and the National Science Foundation’s Center for Engineering Logistics and Distribution. Gustafson holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University and an MS in Dynamics of Organization from the University of Pennsylvania. He is President of his Lehigh University class of 1974, was the recipient of the Lehigh University Alumni Award, and has served on the Lehigh Alumni Association Board of Directors. Throughout his entrepreneurial career, Gustafson has mentored over a hundred students as interns in various companies that he founded and/or managed. Robert Gustafson is an Adjunct Professor at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.

Dr. Emory Zimmers, I&SE Dept., Professor, Enterprise Systems Center, Director

Dr. Zimmers is the Director of the National Science Foundation’s Center for Engineering Logistics and Distribution at Lehigh University (CELDi). His research interests include computer control of industrial systems, agility applications in manufacturing, logistics and distribution systems, new techniques in multi-media distance learning, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. His research is coordinated with the Enterprise Systems Center at Lehigh University and often involves collaboration among education, industry and government partners to implement new findings. Courses which Dr. Zimmers teaches include computer integrated manufacturing, computer graphics, manufacturing problems, and experimental industrial engineering. Dr. Zimmers also oversees the senior projects. He joined the ISE faculty in 1973.

Dale F. Falcinelli, CBE, Professor of Practice, VENTURESeries, Chair

Dale F. Falcinelli is a seasoned market strategist and strong proponent of new venture creation. Dale is retired from a solo consulting practice that spanned over three decades where he advised many hundreds of CEOs and boards of early stage and emerging growth companies. A longstanding adjunct member of the Lehigh University MBA faculty, Dale is a Professor of Practice, a faculty rank recognizing accomplishment in business and the professions. He was named the Swartley Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship by Lehigh and has been recipient of teaching awards over the years, including the MBA Teaching Excellence Award, which he received for the third time in May08. Dale is the creator of VENTURESeries (www.LehighVentureSeries.com), a highly popular MBA track and executive certificate program that dissects and builds on every aspect of entrepreneurship. He has served on over two dozen boards of public and privately-held companies, and is presently a Trustee of Easton Hospital (unit of Community Health Systems, Inc.; NYSE:CHS). He also served on the Board of Advisors of a new venture initiative of Air Products, and was the only outside member of their Venture Investment Board. He is also a partner with Hidden River Capital, a boutique Phila-based investment bank. Dale is frequently invited to speak before corporate audiences and leading academic institutions, including the MBA and Executive MBA programs at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as well as "Wharton West" in San Francisco. He has appeared on A&E's nationally acclaimed Biography television series and a PBS documentary on Bethlehem Steel. He was awarded the "Entrepreneurial Advocate" and, in May09, the "Academic Partner" by the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern PA at their Annual Innovation Awards ceremony for his many contributions in the field of entrepreneurship. Dale was also recognized by "Lehigh Valley Suits" in at March08 event honoring Lehigh Valley business professionals who have distinguished themselves in their field. Dale is an alumnus of Lehigh University and refers to VENTURESeries as a "wonderful sandbox" where he has fun, develops strong ties with MBAs, and tries hard to stay relevant and thinking young!

William R. Haller, ECE Dept., Associate Chair, Professor of Practice

Bill Haller is a Professor of Practice in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Lehigh University. He is the Associate Chair of the Electrical & Computer Engineering department at Lehigh and Director of Lehigh's Engineering Minor. His research interests include medical products, machine vision, wireless circuits and LIDAR systems. Haller holds Bachelor of science degrees in Engineering Physics and Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University and a Master's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh.
