The Humanities Center welcomes proposals for one faculty summer research grant of $6,000. One faculty grant will be awarded for the summer of 2013. The objective of the grant is to provide support for faculty to pursue a humanistic research project or creative activity. The projects do not need to relate to the Humanities Center theme of the year.
The recipient of the grant will commit to share the outcome of his/her activities during Fall 2013 in the form of a reading, workshop, exhibition, or any other interaction that would lead to a meaningful exchange. The proposals will be assessed in terms of both the substance of the research project or creative activity as well as the candidate’s plans for sharing its outcome with the humanities community.
All tenure and tenure-track faculty in the Humanities are eligible to apply. Exception: those who have been awarded external grants (such as a NEH) or any Junior Faculty Fellowship for the same summer and those who are teaching during any of the 2013 summer sessions. The proposals will be evaluated by the Humanities Center Steering Committee. The grant awardee will be announced on April 15.
The proposal must include the following:
1 page summary of the project the candidate will develop
1 page explanation of how the candidate will share the results of his/her research/creative activities with the community
Statement indicating that no other grant has been awarded to the candidate for the same summer and that s/he is not teaching during the summer at Lehigh or any other institution.
