Information for Current Employees
Lehigh University classified exempt and nonexempt staff are provided the opportunity to review and apply for vacant positions. Employees who are ready, willing, and able to expand the scope of their responsibilities and increase their contribution to their department, college, and university will be considered for vacant positions prior to consideration of external candidates. Twenty-five to thirty percent of vacant positions at Lehigh are filled annually by current employees.
All job postings for classified staff positions are updated and posted on the employment website and in the Human Resources Office. Vacant positions are posted internally for five working days before recruiting externally. There may be times when a vacant or new position is not posted - e.g., when the department head chooses to promote or laterally move another employee from the same department/area.
The position details advertised provide employees with information about opportunities for promotion and transfer. Each notice includes a description of the duties and the minimum qualifications required. Employees interested in other employment opportunities at Lehigh are encouraged to read these notices regularly and to follow the instructions to apply for a position.
To find out more about applying for open positions, go to Tips and Guidelines.
Throughout the campus, there are designated Employment Coordinators who assist staff and supervisors in job searches. To view a list of those individuals who are Employment Coordinators, select this link.
Faculty positions can be accessed and reviewed on the website.
Lehigh University encourages active interest in career development planning.
