Short Term Disability Plan
Lehigh University provides eligible faculty and staff members with Short Term Disability benefits in the event of an illness or injury that requires absence from work for 15 or more consecutive calendar days.
The Short Term Disability (STD) plan applies to absences of twenty-six weeks or less. Under the plan, faculty and staff members maintain access to Lehigh University benefits and may be eligible for salary continuation. The level of salary continuation is determined by the type of position occupied and length of service.
Need to initiate an STD claim?
Follow these three steps:
- Call The Hartford, Lehigh's STD administrator, at 1-866-945-7781 or go to The Hartford's website. Register your claim using the policy number 072643.
- Call or write Patti Glasgow in Human Resources at 610-758-3936 or pjg209@lehigh.edu and inform her of your claim.
- Give your supervisor as much information about the timing and length of your absence as you can. Keep him or her updated by checking in regularly. Remember: You do not need to share any medical information with anyone other than The Hartford.
