Benefits Eligibility:
Research Personnel – Salaried employees who perform work primarily related to scientific research, engineering design and analysis, problem solving, technology transfer to industry, or special education and human services field based programs.
A full time schedule for research personnel requires a minimum of 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year or 2080 hours per year. For benefit purposes, an individual in a regular salaried research position is eligible for full benefits if he or she is scheduled to work a minimum of 1,560 hours per year or 75 percent of a full time schedule. Visiting research personnel are not eligible for University funded benefits.
Research Scientist/Engineer/Scholar – Performs work primarily related to scientific or scholarly research, engineering design and analysis, problem solving or technology transfer with industry.
- Full Time – At least 75 percent of a full time schedule
- Part Time – Less than 75 percent of a full time schedule.
Research Associate – Performs work primarily related to scientific or scholarly research to gain professional experience and additional advanced research training.
- Full Time – At least 75 percent of a full time schedule
- Part Time – Less than 75 percent of a full time schedule.
Research Intern – Performs work in the special education and human services field based programs in the College of Education. These positions may be exempt or nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Exempt Full Time – At least 75 percent of a full time schedule
- Exempt Part Time – Less than 75 percent of a full time schedule
- Nonexempt Full Time – At least 75 percent of a full time schedule
- Nonexempt Part Time – Less than 75 percent of a full time schedule.
Visiting Research Personnel – Appointed on a temporary basis to perform work primarily related to scientific or scholarly research.
- Full Time – At least 75 percent of a full time schedule
- Part Time – Less than 75 percent of a full time schedule.
