"...a real sense of community between faculty, staff, and students."
What do you like best about your position?
My position provides me with a lot of variety. I could be working on a computer, cutting keys,
or repairing locks. I could be helping a student, staff, or faculty member. I get to go into all
the buildings on campus and interact with diverse groups of people.
What time do you arrive at work? What time do you leave work?
I arrive at work at 7:00 a.m. and I leave work at 3:30 p.m. with one hour for lunch and overtime
as needed. I am on call for 15 days every other month.
Why did you choose Lehigh University as your employer of choice?
My supervisor is well known in the Locksmith and Access Control industry as an educator
and author. When the opportunity arose to work for such a talented man, I was eager to apply
for the position.
What Lehigh University events and activities have you participated in beyond your
department to become a more active member of the Lehigh community?
I have participated in the Annual Lehigh Marathon (a ten mile run that occurs in November) and
have taken some computing classes to learn new skills and shapen existing skills. I have enjoyed
the faculty and staff holiday parties and picnics and the annual staff dinner.
What is your favorite location on campus and why?
My favorite location is the southern side of Packard Laboratory on University Drive where you can
see a number of beautiful buildings on Asa Packer campus. For example, you can see the Alumni
Memorial Building, the President's House, Linderman Library, the University Center, and Packer
Chapel from the same spot. I also like to go inside Packard Lab to see the first Packard
automobile ever built. It is on display in the main lobby of Packard Lab and was donated to the
College of Engineering & Applied Science by Mr. Packard himself because he was a Lehigh alumnus.
What do you like best about working for an academic institution?
I enjoy working with all of the people across campus. I have met many people from all over the
world and all of the employees at Lehigh that I have met are nice. It is a wonderful place to work
with a real sense of community between the faculty, staff, and students.
