Harassment and Discrimination

The University has a comprehensive Harassment Policy addressing the issue of harassment including definitions, ways to deal with harassment, the informal resolution and formal complaint process, and contact information. The University provides education about harassment through orientation and follow-up programs for students, staff, faculty, and administrators. All individuals in a supervisory capacity receive training and are responsible for implementing the policy. Classroom harassment/discrimination prevention programs are offered through Human Resources’ Workplace Learning and Performance group.

The University also has a policy on Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action and Non-Discrimination.

Additional information and resources can be found on the Harassment Information & Resources web page. This site also provides access to online education program. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this online program that focuses on sexual harassment.

A number of individuals have been designated as key contacts for general information about harassment and discrimination. They also may assist in informal resolution of complaints and are available to serve as investigators in a formal complaint process.

Cases of harassment involving staff members should be brought directly to the attention of the Employee Relations staff in Human Resources who will advise you of the appropriate steps to be followed in such cases.
