"Making friendships ... is important to me. "
What do you like best about your position?
I think I like the people contact most of all. I especially like working with students as well as other
staff in the office, including my supervisor. On my flex days, I'm in the office by 7:30 a.m.
What time do you arrive at work? What time do you leave work?
I arrive at work every day before or by 8:15 a.m. and I leave the office at 4:45 p.m. or longer if
needed or requested by my supervisor.
Why did you choose Lehigh University as your employer of choice?
At the time I was looking for a job, I was notified by the Placement Center of the Allentown
Business School that Lehigh was looking for a receptionist. I had my first experience in the
academic environment in 1987 when I came to the Alumni Memorial Building to help distribute
class schedules to students on opening day. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the people. I thought
it would be nice to work here someday, and here I am, 22 years later.
What Lehigh University events and activities have you participated in beyond your
department to become a more active member of the Lehigh community?
At one time I participated in a wellness exercise program. I formed a team, named it, and we won!
I was also in a cooking contest in the Dean of Students Office and won the appetizer category with
my recipe for "frito pie."
What is your favorite location on campus and why?
I like being in the University Center. There is a lot of student traffic and you get to see other staff
members in the Asa Packer Dining Room that maybe you don't get to see too often. Making
friendships across the campus is important to me. Even though I'm no longer at the University
Center but in Warren Square, I still have student contact which is important.
What do you like best about working for an academic institution?
Meeting students of diverse backgrounds and working with committee staff members.
