Keepers of the Gold

A Beast of Mythological Proportions

Gryphons are named after the ancient mythological beast of Scythia that was known to protect the area's gold. At Lehigh, the students, freshmen in particular, are considered to be the school's "gold." The Gryphon Society was founded in 1957 as a group of students dedicating to helping freshmen make a positive adjustment to campus life. Because of the active role they take in their residents' lives, Gryphons are Lehigh's "Keepers of the Gold."

The Society Today

The Gryphon Society executive board meets on Wednesdays, from 12-1 p.m. in UC 408 to discuss programs and issues that the society handles as a whole. A representative from each staff is also asked to attend these meetings every other week.

Gryphons are also given the opportunity to join committees to work on ongoing goals and projects of the society. These committess include Selection, Recognition, Reality, and Training.
