"The Global Citizenship Program has given me a completely new outlook on the world. I applied to the program to learn about how different cultures interact in the world. I never knew that one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life would come from this program. I have never left the U.S. before, and participating in the Intersession Trip to Chile with peers who I attended classes and formed relationships with was truly amazing. As a student in the College of Business and Economics (CBE), I have seen that globalization studies and business studies have a tendency to contradict. This program has given me a unique outlook on the world and its interactions. I believe studying in the Global Citizenship program will not only help me in my place of employment upon graduation, but throughout my entire life."

"The Global Citizenship program is my most positive experience at Lehigh University so far. As a fairly experienced traveler, the program has allowed me to meet and befriend fellow students who are just as enthusiastic to see and learn about the vast world outside of the United States . While taking unforgettable classes with incredible professors and motivated students, Global Citizenship has given me a great alternative to the traditional first year English course and an excellent auxiliary to my major. As an architecture major, the intersession trip to Hong Kong gave me the opportunity to see countless examples of Asian construction styles and many of the most famous modern skyscrapers of the world. When I graduate, there is no doubt that the Global Citizenship program will stand as one of my fondest experiences here at Lehigh."

"Joining Lehigh's Global Citizenship Program has been one of the best decisions I have made. It has taught me the importance of thinking in a global way: accepting and learning about other cultures. As a future engineer, I think it will not only help me prepare for the future as a more knowledgeable and complete professional, but also make me a more understanding and better person. I have made lots of friends from the program, and also had unforgettable new experiences with the group abroad (Intersession Trip to Hong Kong ). Ecuador is my home country; I think I have portrayed, in a certain way, my culture. Because I have contributed different views and perspectives, this experience has been enriched for every one of us in the program."

"Before I came to Lehigh, I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future. The Global Citizenship program has already affected me. I have learned so much about globalization and I understand the concept of inter-connectedness so much more. It has definitely increased my interest in other cultures. The Intersession Trip to Santiago , Chile convinced me that I want to work internationally. Listening to the struggles that so many have to endure has made me want to work in the area of human development. If it wasn't for this program, I would probably still be undecided about my path for the future. This program has really made me feel that I have found myself."

"My experience as a Global Citizen has been exciting, interesting, and informative. My horizons have been broadened, and I have learned to see the world from a global perspective. However, my first hand experience of daily life of a foreign culture, Hong Kong , is what has been priceless. I know that upon my graduation I will look back and realize that I had an unfair advantage among my peers; I will be able to act more effectively for mankind. Also, as a student of the business school, I will be able to apply my experience to international business."

“My vocabulary is not vast enough to express the gifts the Global Citizenship Program has given me. Before I entered the program, I was interested in world affairs, but I did not feel connected to the world. Since being in the program, I have been half-way across the world, to Shanghai during my intercession trip, and learned more in mere hours while being there, than I have in my thirteen years of schooling. I have been given the opportunity to go to seminars about microfinance, see movies about the plights that people face worldwide, and meet many incredible people who I believe will genuinely change the face of the world. I am more than lucky to be a part of this program that has changed me more than I could ever explain.”

“When I graduate college, I do not desire to be an individual very knowledgeable in engineering and ignorant about everything else. Participation in Lehigh’s Global Citizenship Program is one major way I plan to pursue this wish. As I expected, most topics taught in my engineering classes are already established facts that students can hardly express opinions about or subject to debate. However, in contrast, the classes I have taken so far for the Global Citizenship Program have afforded me a chance to analyze world issues critically. As an engineer, I am able to examine how my work will impact the world and appreciate the socio-cultural context I shall be working in upon leaving college. The trip component of the Program definitely brought this picture of the world closer. Whilst in Shanghai, I was able to observe at first hand the different work and living environments in China, and at the same time, find many interesting commonalities the land shares with the rest of the world. In effect, after just a year in the Global Citizenship Program, I feel very enlightened about global issues and strongly believe that after Lehigh, I shall come out a well-rounded person poised to take on the world.”

“When I first applied to the Global Citizenship Program, I had no idea what to expect. In high school, my extracurricular activities revolved more around school sports and community service groups, so frankly speaking, applying to the Global Citizenship Program was an off the cuff decision. Well, it turned out that my instincts led me in the right direction – participation in the program is the most worthwhile thing I have done at Lehigh so this far. The classes I have taken, the places I have traveled, and the people I have met have genuinely opened my mind to diverse perspectives. The way I think about the world has certainly changed, and I am all the better for it.”

“Becoming part of Lehigh’s Global Citizenship Program has truly changed my life. I came into college not knowing what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. People had always been telling me what I should do, but Global Citizenship opened up so many opportunities of which I had never thought. My Intersession Trip to Prague really opened my eyes, and for the first time, I could see how I really fit into the world. I am now an Environmental Science and Environmental Studies double major with an International Relations minor. While my future is not set in stone, Global Citizenship set me on path and the things I have learned will always stay with me.”
