A student's first-year at Lehigh is a critical time of change and exploration. We have named the first-year experience evoLUtion for its definition of a gradual process in which something changes into a different, more complex or better form.

To best help students adjust we have created the evoLUtion Seminar, a non-credit bearing seminar which extends past orientation and will address social and academic transitional issues that students are most likely to face during their first-year. This experience is grounded in the Core Skills/Developmental Competencies which consist of:

  • Intellectual Exploration
  • Individual Identity Development
  • Interpersonal Relationships
  • Community Development

The Office of the First-Year Experience is looking for faculty and staff who would be interested in helping shape the lives of first-year students by co-facilitiating the four-week evoLUtion seminar with a trained student Orientation Leader. This year's seminar session topics will include:

  • Discussing the Summer Reading Selection, Blink
  • Talking about identity development with students
  • Discussing academic success and preparing for exams

Please complete the following application to work with one of our evoLUtion Seminars for Fall 2008!

We are looking for enthusiastic and engaging faculty and staff who are interested in working with a small group of 20 first-year students and an upperclass Orientation Leader during their first four weeks of classes. A detailed outline of the sessions along with training will be provided for this experience.
