Welcome
Congratulations!
You have made it to one of the most exhilarating experiences of your life…college! College is a time of growth and change for students and their families. During your first year at Lehigh, The Office of the First-Year Experience (OFYE) is here to provide you with resources and support to make your transition a successful one.
Being a Lehigh student means you are involved, engaged and an active participant in your learning. During your first year, we focus on three core developmental competency areas:
- Intellectual Development- Exploring not only how you learn best, but also developing an appreciation for life-long learning.
- Individual Identity Development- Exploring and understanding your personal attitudes, beliefs, and feelings about yourself and answering the classic question “Who Am I?”.
- Interpersonal Development, Equity, Community, and Global Engagement-Understanding who you are in relationship to others and how to evaluate the relationships you develop with your new community of students, faculty and staff. Developing a sense of personal responsibility for promoting the growth of the larger community and recognizing how your individual contributions can impact it.
The OFYE also plans events throughout the academic year to support your living and learning experiences. We want you to be successful at Lehigh, and we will do everything we can to help keep you on the right track. We are excited you will be joining the Lehigh community and we want to help you make the most out of your experience!
