If You Choose To Break A Rule L

Yellow Light/Red Light Procedure.  Every student in my class starts every day with a green light.  If a student breaks one of the six rules above here is what happens….

First time a rule is broken:  A student is given a yellow light to keep on the corner of their desk as a visual reminder.  Their name also gets written on the board.  They lose 10 minutes of recess.

Second time a rule is broken:  A student’s yellow light gets turned over and on the back is an L.  They also get a L next to their name on the board.  The students lose all of their recess.

Third time a rule is broken:  A student receives a red light on the corner of their desk. Parent contact will be made.  Student must write a note to parents about the rule that they broke.

Fourth time a rule is broken:  A student is given a Code of Conduct followed by a meeting with their parents and the principal

*All lights go back to green at the end of the day to give a fresh start the following day.

Rewards For Positive Behavior  J

- Daily Praise

- Positive notes home – sent randomly

- Whole class recess time or free time given weekly

- Positive perks throughout the school year such as pencils, erasers, and stickers

- Marbles!  This is a way to positively reward the students.  A bowl of colored marbles and a coffee mug are placed next to each other where all the students can see them.  When the students follow directions or when good behavior is apparent, one of the students is asked to place a marble in the coffee mug.  It makes a neat little sound! Once the coffee mug is filled with marbles a popcorn party is given.  This encourages them to use good behavior and provides them with motivation to fill the mug with marbles.
