Michele Cartaya
April 2006
I grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey with my twin brother where I attended the public school system. I continued my education at at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education through Lehigh's Technology-Based Teacher Education program. Currently, I am looking forward to working in a suburban or urban area at the secondary level as a Social Studies teacher.
This web site has been created to express my teaching philosophy as well as to demonstrate effective and necessary teaching skills I learned in graduate school. The web pages are organized by aspects of my teaching philosophy as well as by characteristics of the teaching profession. Each web page has a few examples that demonstrate various teaching styles, or procedures that I have used in the classroom while student teaching at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Most of the lesson plans and ideas are aimed at 10th grade students but are adaptable to various student academic levels.
In order to navigate this site, it is important to know that the stack of books in the upper right hand corner will return you to the main page. All the terms highlighted and underlined in red are links to documents. The list of links to each page is displayed on the left or below in a red chart.
