Evaluation of Teaching Resources:
  • All of the resources used to facilitate the teaching of this Interdisciplinary Unit were very useful.  The resources were both age and grade appropriate.  The writing resource guides (Writing Workshop Survival Kit, Writing Resource Activities Kit, Writing: Grammar, Usage, and Style, The Art of Teaching Writing, and Craft Lessons: Teaching Writing K-8) provided quick little mini lessons I could tailor to the novel.  Such activities gained from these resources were the symbol activity centers, critical analysis of the novel, and point of view journals.  The glossary I used to better emphasize the importance of literary terms was extremely helpful.  Many times throughout the course of the unit, students encountered multiple literary devices.  The definitions and examples from this resources were easily understood by the students.  The Fahrenheit 451 resource guides provided reproducible handouts and notes that were used to supplement my lessons.  This enabled me to ask students additional questions to ensure full comprehension and knowledge retention.  The Resources used from the web were given to the students to review and discover how Nazi Germany related to aspects within the novel.  Other books were also used to connect Nazi Germany with the novel.  These books at first glance seemed to be a bit complex for the students.  However, after review and reading them on my own, I realized that the content and information presented in the books was suitable for student review.  Students eagerly searched through the books to gain information supporting this projects.
