Migrant Workers

Answer the following questions:

1.  Select a picture or photo depicting the migrant workers of the Great Depression.  Explain what a migrant worker is using Internet and/or library sources.  Make sure your definition elaborates or explains the selected picture or photo.

2.  Describe the conditions of a migrant worker.  How does this relate to the conditions of the bunk house/ranch in the novel.  Use examples from the novel to back up your research.  **Hint** Check out chapter 2, 4, and 5.

3.  Both Lennie and George are migrant workers.  Find 3 passages from the novel that support this statement.  Include the page number and a brief description of the scene where the passage is found.

4.  Compare and contrast the life of George and Lennie to that of the account of a migrant worker.  How are they similar?  How are they different?  Below are two sites focusing on accounts of migrant workers. You may find your own migrant worker accounts on the Internet. You do not have to use the sources I provided.
