Conceptual Outcomes:
  1. The eighth grade students will gain the following items as a result of the unit.
  2. Distinct voice in writing
  3. The impact of imagery in the story
  4. Use of Similes and Metaphors
  5. Use of Personification
  6. Comparison and contrast of: The novel to the video, the novel to the historical background of Nazi Germany.
  7. Character comparison (ie. Mildred to Clarisse and Beatty to Montag) 
  8. Comparison of Beatty to Adolf Hitler 
  9. Identify the various aspects of the plot 
  10. Use of technology to gain more information (ie. Criticism, journals, informational websites etc.) 
  11. Characterization of the characters 
  12. The use of dialogue to gain a better understanding of the characters. 
  13. Point of view 
  14. Exploring the point of view the novel. 
  15. Exploring how the novel would be different if a particular character was telling the story.
  16. Plot exploration.
  17. Each part of the plot will be identified.
  18. Reflective journals to develop theme/essay. 
  19. Successful cooperative learning group activities.
