“The American Dream”

Answer the following questions:
 

 

1. “The American Dream” of the Great Depression, what does this mean to you?  First, research the definition of “The American Dream” during the Great Depression.  Each member of your group must define “The American Dream” in terms of themselves.

 
 

2.  How is “The American Dream” represented in the novel?  Use the definition you found from researching question one. Give a specific excerpt from the novel.  Make sure to include the characters involved and the page number.
 

 

3.Research the web and/or library to find pictures of “The American Dream” as defined by the novel.  Explain how these pictures relate to “The American Dream” as represented in the novel.
 

 

4.  How many characters in the story agree with Lennie and George’s concept of “The American Dream?” Does the “dream” come true?  When writing this essay, first state what the “The American Dream” is in the novel, how George and Lennie bought into this dream, which of the other characters were sharing this dream, and if the “dream” ever occurred.
