The
Academic Support Communication Plan will utilize every means available
to enable a student-athlete to
be as successful as possible both in
terms of intellectual and personal growth. In order to provide the
most
comprehensive level of support for
student-athletes, it is essential to coordinate a variety of different
resources
by maintaining a high level of communication
between involved parties.
The utilization of all available technology will make communication necessary
to coordinate academic support
successful. In person conferences/meetings,
telephone, letters, email, and webpages will be the main methods of
communication. The academic support
coordinator will be able to use these technologies in order to communicate
with the following involved parties:
student-athletes, coaching staff, athletic administrative staff, faculty
members, parents of student-athletes,
Dean of Students Office personnel, student tutors, other university support
services such as Counseling Department
staff and Career Services Personnel, and any special presenters from
the both the university community and
beyond.
Online resources would be essential to making enrichment programming as
successful as possible for the
student-athlete population. Furthermore,
online resources such as email and a academic support website will
enhance the effectiveness and convenience
of individualized academic management plans. This use of
technology will also force student-athletes
to become more proficient with technology.
