Fleming's text was a great rsource for me, the future
biology teacher. It provided insight on not just focusing on Biology. It
provied many activities and worksheets. Also, it addressed such things
as clasroom management and it suggest ways to be more innovative in one's
lesson whic I seek to do.
PTSA (Pennsylvania Science Teachers Association) Exhange.
This journal has been valuable for me, the
future science teacher. Reading this journal has been enlightening--seeing
firsthand expert teachers in practice. I've been able to discover new techniques
and ideas to adapt into my lessons.
Villee, C., Martin, C., Berg, L, Davis, P. 1992. Biology 2nd Edition. Saunders Collee Publishing.
This book, for me the science teacher, has been a great
resource for review. If I'm a little removed from a topic-it helps reinforce
knowledge.
Wood, C. 1997. Yardsticks. Children in the Classroom Ages 4-14: A Resource for Parents and Teachers. Northeast Foundation fo Children, Inc. Greenfield, MA. 01301.
This resource was invaluable to me, especially in my middle
school experience. Children at that age can be a real challenge--which
I found out despite the warnings that I was given. Reading about this age
group was invaluable as I was able to get inside their minds and see what
they were thinking. I was able to adjust my teaching and this enabled me
to bring the concepts to life for my students. When provided with real
life examples, that are applicable to their daily lives, students are more
eager and excited about learning.
